Release 2.2 is ready for testing since July 2021 and has been tested by few users. This new version will become operational as of October 5 2021. The semi-operational test version 2.1 that was made available to mitigate for the COVID-19 situation will seize to exist on 15 January 2022. The current operational system version 1.6 processing MUAC data only will seize to exist on 31 January 2022.
Release 2.2 improvements:
- Improved performance of processing algorithm:
- improved heading correction and temperature correction
- corrections created hourly and updated daily at 6 UTC.
- ability to handle more observations (currently more than 50M/day)
- Improved quality control
- input qc checks more parameters (such as position)
- post qc checks calculated values for correctness
- whitelisting of aircraft improved
- Improved monitoring of systems:
- near real-time alerting
- daily reporting of quality
- error reporting of processing systems for use by EMADDC Team
- Reprocess of time window when files are delayed but received within 1 hour. Files recevied later than 1 hour are archived and not present in products or corrections
- Removal of duplicate observations from overlapping sources
- Output of non quality-controlled MRAR (BDS 4.4) data
- Ability to parse single raw receiver files containing data of multiple receivers
- Settings for data retrieval, streams and processing our now configurable
- New output in ASCII and BUFR (netCDF is no longer supported); output contains now
- version number
- phase of flight
- source
- Mode-S receiver id
- (and more see EMADDC Data Formats)
- Use of BUFR subsets (currently maxed at 100 per message) to reduce filesize of BUFR products.
The decision to go from version 1.6 towards version 2.2 is based on extensive research and development and is descibed in document The first 6 months during COVID-19 of EMADDC. The version 2b described in the report is the version that becomes operational as Release 2.2.
