A first attack on SURF occurred yesterday, resulting in limited disruptions to KNMI's external services. However, today's attack appears to be adversely affecting connectivity to KNMI's FTP servers, amongst other issues.
Given the scale of the attack, the impact is significant, and it may take some time for SURF to fully restore all connectivity. For the latest updates, please refer to grotestoring.nl.
As a result of these issues, EMADDC is receiving input data irregularly, and the products published on ftpservice.knmi.nl may be temporarily unavailable. Please note that the EMADDC Met Office Global product remains unaffected by this attack, as the data is published on KNMI's DataPlatform (dataplatform.knmi.nl).
UPDATE 17/1/2024
This morning, another DDoS attack was targeted at the SURF services, affecting the KNMI and EMADDC systems. The attack appears to have ceased, but SURF continues to maintain vigilance.
UPDATE 19/1/2024
It seems the attack has seased and all services are working normally again.
