Over the past few months, this system has remained active as a backup system. However, the Lift and Shift system has proven to be sufficiently robust, rendering the backup unnecessary during this period. During this time, EMADDC has successfully deployed several updates to the Lift and Shift system without any interruptions, demonstrating its enhanced robustness and resilience.
For EMADDC Met Office Global data, the legacy system is still operational for Met Office purposes. The Global data available on KNMI's Dataplatform is already sourced from its equivalent Lift and Shift system. It is anticipated that this legacy production system will be decommissioned by the end of 2024, marking a complete transition to the AWS cloud for EMADDC.
These AWS systems will remain operational while EMADDC undertakes the development of the new EMADDC 3.0 system. Development is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2025. EMADDC is committed to providing regular updates and will notify users when initial testing phases of EMADDC 3.0 can begin. Additionally, we encourage stakeholders to participate in our monthly sprint reviews. For an invitation, please reach out to the team.
